Responsibilities

·         The Committee will select topics for luncheons, manager meetings and special seminars.

·         The Committee will select speakers for the programs and instructors for the CAI educational courses.

·         The Committee will coordinate with the speakers/instructors to ensure materials are appropriate, assist with defining the topic/content, provide CAI curriculum, standard power point template or handout and work with CED to execute the event.

·         The Committee will adhere to and support the Standards and Guidelines for Speakers, Instructors and Sponsors as adopted by the Chapter.

Goals for 2009

·         Form sub-committees if necessary to support various events/programs

·         Develop speaker/instructor selection criteria and procedures

·         Develop and implement standard CAI presentation and handout materials for programs and events (to be utilized by speakers/presenters)

·         Implement feedback form for every event; utilize during speaker selection process

Every year, the Committee puts on two courses in Portland for Homeowners, “Essentials of Community Association Management” and “Selected Topics in Community Association Management”; at least one of these is presented in Bend in conjunction with the Central Oregon Regional Council and will be presented in other areas where Regional Councils are established.

Currently scheduled classes are: “Essentials” in Bend, April 19 and in Portland, April 26; “Selected Topics” in Portland, evenings September 10, 17, 24, and October 1.  The Committee hosts three courses for managers that are put on by CAI National; the courses for 2008 are :  M100, “Essentials of Community Association Management for managers, May 15-17 in Portland; M205, “Risk Management” for managers, August 7-8, in Portland; and  M201, “Facilities  Maintenance”, September 18-19, in Portland.

The committee is working on activities that will add value to membership for homeowners, by presenting quarterly, half-day workshops for homeowners on current issues.  Committee members can be facilitators of these courses, but the committee is always seeking assistance with facilitating and presenting from its manager and business partner members.  The committee meets monthly and individual members are assigned to assemble presenters; most course materials are provided by CAI National, but occasionally committee members develop course materials.  Members interested in joining the committee or facilitating should call Rebekah Baze, Chair @ 503.905.3215
