MINUTES
FOR
COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION INSTITUTE
LEGISLATIVE ACTION COMMITTEE ("LAC")
DATED: 7/25/02
Delegates present: Richard Thompson, Denise Bower, Karna Gustafson,
Barbara Kanz and
Cheryl Brendle by telephone
A. Approval
of Minutes. April and May meeting minutes were approved. June
meeting minutes were not available.
B. Recommendation
of Additional Delegate. An offer was made to Harriett Heisey to
apply to be a LAC delegate but she would be required to be a CAI
member. Harriett was worried about working against us and graciously
declined the invitation. Discussion followed relative to other
possible delegates to the LAC. Rich Thompson suggested Stan Stutterford
as a possible homeowner member. Discussion followed on the fact
that persons to the LAC needed to be CAI members.
C. Resale
Disclosure. This item was tabled until the next meeting. It was
discussed that we needed a working session to discuss the policy
behind proceeding with resale disclosure.
D. Record
Retention. This was removed from the agenda.
E. Corporate
Issues. No report.
F. Web
Site. Denise Bower reported that CAI National had a web site and
Chapters could put their pending legislation on the web site,
possibly by the end of the year. It was decided not to pursue
a local web site.
G. Audit.
Matter was referred to OWCAM. David Schwindt will work on it and
report on it to us.
H. New
Business. Discussion followed on RSVPs for future LAC committee
meetings. Denise will ask delegates to indicate whether they are
unable to attend meetings. Discussion also followed on attendance
at meetings. Denise Bower will call Bryce to determine his interest
in remaining on the LAC. We also discussed permanent dates for
future meetings. The possibility of the third Tuesday every month
was discussed. Denise will follow up with the delegates to determine
whether or not that is an acceptable date.
I. Next
Meeting. The next meeting will be on August 20, 2002 at Noon at
CMI.
Meeting
adjourned.
